Celyn slowly made his way towards the lighthouse. For the past week, the lighthouse had been his home. Not quite as comfortable as the abandoned house his mother raised her litter in, but far better than some other places he'd been in. He couldn't help but look over his shoulder, worried that any of his sisters might be after him. Even if the five sisters had gone their separate ways months ago, he still lived in fear that he might see them again. As much as he loved them, their sharp words and teasing (even if some of it had been gentle) scarred him.
The black retriever mix nudged open the door, wincing as it squeaked on rusty hinges. He hated how it squeaked, even if he couldn’t do anything about it. It seemed too loud in this quiet place, though the quietness was why he liked it. Letting out a deep sigh, he headed straight for his bed, a pile of rags and blankets tucked into one of the corners of the first floor. He flopped down on his makeshift bed, head on his paws. Home sweet home, even if it was a dump.
