MARKET AND TRADES
TRADES-
A list of the current trades being utilized by The Rangers. Trades are very flexible and are usually assigned to your character by YOU upon submitting a joining application. Any Trade can be carried out as long is it run by ripple , if you don't find the trade you want listed below!
COMMON TRADES
WINEMAKERS- Sell bottled wine from the Chateau Cellar. They usually trade wines for high items like food and medicine or other items of similar value. Winemakers usually divide up profits 50/50 with the community. Winemakers actually ferment the grapes and reuse bottles through a recycling program for a discount on your next wine purchase!
ROCK SELLERS- Sell gemstones, fossils, and other unique looking rocks found in Graycott. Their wares are usually visually appealing and don't provide a functional value. But Rock Sellers are excellent source of coal and flint, which are functional and used for fire. Rock sellers divide up profits 70/30 with the community.
HIDE MAKERS- Sell furs and hides bartered from the hunters. They take and try to cure these hides to be sold as warm furnishings for bedding. They also collect blankets from human dwellings to sell and trade. Hunters are usually given a 25% stake in the trade. The rest of the split with the community is 40/35.
PLANT BARTERERS- Trade and sell herbs/plants beneficial for use as medicines. Plant barterers usually work in conjunction with gardeners to gain their wares and gardeners are given a 25% stake in the trade. The rest of the split is 40/35.
CURED MEAT SELLERS- Cured meat sellers don't actually profit from their sales; the sun-cured and salt cured meats are usually excess stores from the community food pool and traded/sold at the market for additional revenue. Anyone can work the Cured Meat Seller booth. 100% goes to community revenue.
HUMAN TRINKET BARTERS- Collect and trade/sell unique human wares that are not functional, although it depends on the items! Common items include porcelain plates, necklaces, trinkets, baubles...anything thought-provoking and attractive! Sometimes you get lucky and might find a flashlight with still working batteries... Human Trinket Barters also do a 50/50 split with the community.
ATTORNEY CONSULTATION- Usually reserved for members of The Rangers, those needing defense in criminal or civil courts, since The Rangers use this system to deal with law breakers. Sometimes Attorney's offer good 'legal' advice, but beware! Attorneys are completely independent...They can charge what they like and don't have to divide up profits with the community. Make sure you discuss terms and agreements...and have a witness to the contract! 100% revenue goes solely to attorneys.
MARKET
So if the trades/market information seems a little confusing, here is a breakdown of what the Cattle Pen Market is all about!WHEN ROLEPLAYING AS A TRADER: All Traders have a makeshift stand on the Prairie where you can roleplay yourself dickering and bartering with other characters for goods! An example is: If you really want a human cameo necklace for your mate and you sell wine, you could trade with Human Trinket Barters for one or trade with other characters who aren't even apart of The Rangers, if they so happen to have one. But don't forget, you must also collect profits for the community as well! So if you have your cameo, the next thing you trade a bottle of wine for goes to the community 'revenue'.
Definitions to Work the Market
Revenue- Anything that can be collected/stored for the community. This includes things like food, ropes, tools, medicines not found on Ranger land, etc. Practically anything a Trader may think useful or seeks to gain for themselves or the community. A Trader makes the decision on what to dicker for, but must use their judgement. A cameo necklace for your mate is great, but don't forget to donate something to the community as well! If you want some matches or if a stranger happens to have a functional lantern, that'd be a great trade to benefit the community! There are no set rules on what defines revenue, so you have the freedom to plot with others and get creative! Revenue is basically defined as item for item, good for good, or service for service.
Revenue/Revenue- Usually the first number in the division of assets is what the Trader gets to keep! The second number is what is used to benefit the community. Example: If you are a Plant Vendor and you have traded five different medicinal herbs for the following items: A medium sized dog harness, a bottle of aspirin, a gold watch, one freshly killed pheasant, and a raven feather...Then the revenue you owe to the community is 2:2, but don't forget the gardeners! They have a 25% stake, so they are owed an item for supplying your wares. So of the five items you traded for, two are yours to keep, two get donated to the community, and the last item is to go to the Gardeners. Make sense? We sure hope so! But don't sweat it- nobody will police you. But OCC rewards are promised if you manage to make ICC revenue for The Rangers!
MARKET RULES
Everyone is welcome to the market! You don't need to be apart of The Rangers! If you're a loner who needs a meal and you found something not of use to you like rope or garden trowel, take it down to the market and haggle! In another pack/gang/organization and need medicine or matches? Bring something to trade and jump right in. The Rangers are usually a pleasant bunch, but don't bring something like an old, torn up sock to trade for something like a whole rabbit skin. The Traders take trades/sales by discretion!1. Nothing of contraband is to be taken as payment for trade: poisons, weapons, illicit drugs. These things are not to be sold at market either.
2. A Trader has the right to refuse a barter if the Trader feels like the profits aren't equal or above. (Remember our torn, dirty sock example?)
3. No fighting or violence is allowed at market. Law Enforcement is stationed frequently to keep the peace. Those who are not in The Rangers are subject to Ranger law upon entering the market and could be arrested for misconduct.
4. Payment is due immediately upon transaction.
5. Stealing in the Market is punishable by Ranger law if caught and convicted. After serving the appropriate sentence (Found in Rules section of the Rangers), you may be banned from the Market indefinitely.
6. Other canines are not considered trade items. Souls aren't cargo and it is illegal to trade items for canines in the Market.
7. Any Traders caught selling/trading banned items may stripped of their title and banned from the Market if caught and convicted.
8. The Market opens at sunrise and closes at sunset. After hours selling is frowned upon and may put you under suspicion of black market trading.
9. Pups around six months of age need to preferably be accompanied by a parent.
10. Traders must keep a professional, friendly atmosphere, and accept all who come by their stands. While they take revenue at their discretion, they may not refuse service to anyone with ample payment.
